Tour overview
The safari takes you to the renowned Murchison Falls, where you will experience the highlights of Uganda, and then journeys through to the well-preserved natural Chimpanzees hotspot, the Kibale Forests National Park. This geo-tourism safari is composed of most activities intriguing and in the highlights we included: Cultural experiences, Game viewing, Bird watching, Boat cruises, Nature guided walks, Chimpanzee trekking, and sightseeing.
Day 1: Arrival
Pick up from the airport, by our representative and transfer to Kampala, check-in followed by a briefing.
Day 2: Kampala – Murchison Fall NP
Pick up from your hotel and a drive to Murchison Falls NP (5-6 hrs). Passing through the famous Luwero Triangle, branch off to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for Rhino trekking and lunch, before continuing to the Park. Check-in, Dinner and overnight at Paraa Safari lodge/ Sambiya River Lodge/ Red chilli Camp.
Murchison falls National Park is the largest park in Uganda and one of the high points of any visit to
Uganda. The park is bisected by the mighty Nile River – the longest river in the World. The Northern circuit of the park has the highest concentration of animals excellent for game viewing. The highlight is as you view a spectacular sight of the Nile tumbling 40 meters down in a narrow 7 meters wide crevice - the re-known Murchison falls. Combined with a cruise on the Nile, bird watching, Rhino trekking experience at Ziwa, nature guided walks, chimpanzee trekking at Kaniyo Pabidi forest, will give this tour a unique allure and experience of the most dramatic moments in the wilderness.
Day 3: Game drive and Launch cruise
You will have a warm-up cup of coffer/tea before setting off for an early game drive (about 6.00am) in the Northern circuit of the Nile. This will take you to the true meaning of wildlife appearing in hundreds including antelopes, Elephants, Buffaloes, Giraffes, Bushbucks, Lions and a variety of bird species.
After the game drive, you will return to the lodge for a late breakfast, there after relax and enjoy the lodge’s facilities until time for lunch.
In the afternoon, you will take a cruise on the Nile with opportunity to see hippos, crocodiles and water birds such as African fish eagle, African jacana, pied kingfisher, Egyptian geese, and pelicans along the river banks.
The boat cruise takes you to the bottom of the thunderous Murchison falls and beautiful Sunset on the Nile. From here you will board off and walk to the “top of the falls”, where you will enjoy the spectacular view. Return to a relaxing evening at your hotel, for dinner and overnight.
Day 4: Murchison – Transfer to Kibale (8 – 9hrs
A relaxed breakfast then transfer to Kibale Forest National Park, lunch in Hoima town. Proceed to
Kibale NP arriving in the evening. Check in will be at Ndali Lodge/Chimps Nest. You will then relax till dinner and overnight.
Day 5: Full day in Kibale
You have an option to learn the life style of chimpanzees (the closest relatives to humans) for a full
day (a process called habituation), or just trek them for a few hours into the forest. While walking
through the forest, the guides will educate you on the various flora and fauna found in the park. The
park supports the highest concentration of primates in the world: there are 13 species, including
Black-and-White and Red colobus, L'Hoests monkeys, baboons, bush baby and chimpanzees. There are 325 avian species in Kibale, and 144 species of butterflies and moths. It is wise to pack lunch as
this might be tedious and long.
Depending on the chosen activity, you will go for a guided nature walk in the Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary in the afternoon. The sanctuary offers great birding opportunities and nature walks.
Besides birding, Bigodi village has a rich cultural heritage site where you can mix with the local people and enjoy the African traditions in terms of lifestyle and entertainment. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 6: Kibale - Kampala
Breakfast and checkout with an option of taking a guided walk to the top of the world where you can
be able to view scenic crater lakes, tea plantations and rolling hills perfect for photography. There after drive back to Kampala, lunch en route.
