Safari Highlights

This safari takes you to the Akagera National Park with game viewing spotting abundant wildlife and some of the rarest birds (papyrus gonolek, the bizarre shoebill stork) in Africa. Plus we will also give you the opportunity to Camp at the picturesque Akagera river banks experiencing the beautiful tranquil – a truly mystical introduction to the wonders of the African bush giving an unforgettable memories from Rwanda.

Day 1: Arrival

Met on arrival by our representative at Kigali International Airport and transferred to Akagera National Park, which is found at the Rwanda Tanzania boarder; a beautiful undulating plains with extensive series of lakes linked by papyrus swamps. Check-in will be at the Akagera Game Lodge /or accommodation facility of your choice (budget or luxury) there after you will be briefed on your tour itinerary and left to relax and take the rest of your day at leisure.

Day 2: Akagera Experience

Wake up early with a snack and then set off for a Sunrise game drive in the Akageralion cubs drinking at river Akagera game trails. Akagera is a big game country; herds of elephant and buffalo emerge from the woodland to drink at the lakes. On the game drive you may spot the illusive leopards, hyenas, lions, Maasai giraffe, gazelles, impala, baboons, oribi, Butchel’s zebra, topi, bush baby, leopard and bushbuck, antelopes, chest-nut coated impalas, diminuitive oribis, secretive bush bucks and cape elands. Akagera is also a birding paradise with over 525 species recorded some such as the Jacanas, Ibis, Sand pipers and Herons are endemic to the area.

After this rewarding game drive you will return to the lodge, relax and enjoy the lodge’s facilities until the late afternoon when you go on a canoe ride on Lake Ihema where you will see a large number of hippos, Nile crocodiles and water birds such as fish eagles. You antelopes in Akagerawill return after this to the lodge and take the rest of your evening at leisure.

Day 3: Transfer to Kigali for Departure

After a relaxed breakfast you will checkout, and we drive back to Kigali arriving in time for lunch, checking in at accommodation facility of your choice (budget or luxury), where you will have lunch, then relax.

After lunch we will take you on a brief city tour starting with Kigali Memorial Centre, built on a site where over 250,000 people are buried following the Rwandan Genocide, in April 2004. There after we shall proceed to the handcraft shops (optionally) to give you opportunity to buy souvenirs as you wind up your tour. After that we will return you to your hotel for dinner and overnight

Day 4: Departure

This day marks the end of your safaris, after breakfast we will transfer you to Kanombe International Airport in time for your outbound flight. We hope you have enjoyed your stay in Rwanda.
